The Nidaros Cathedral
The Nidaros Cathedral, in the heart of Trondheim, is an ornate Gothic masterpiece and Norway’s national shrine. Built over the tomb of Olav the Holy, the Viking king who christianized Norway, it became the country’s most important pilgrimage site. Completed around 1300, its grand architecture, intricate carvings, and stained-glass windows have drawn visitors for centuries. Today, it remains a place of worship and history, hosting royal coronations and special ceremonies.
